Increasing cost of inputs for an intensive agriculture system, is a cause of great concern. The farmer in Punjab needs initial hand holding for adoption of low cost, on-farm inputs based and environment friendly agricultural production system. Rural women involved for primary grading and packing of organic products for local markets. At a later stage primary processing and marketing at a higher level can also be taken up. Many more initiatives like "Farmers First" are required to take the sustainable agriculture movement forward.
