Please give a brief decription of your professional background
Dr. Dalip K. Gosain is serving at the prestigious National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal since 1980. He has served this Institute in various capacities in different divisions and presently holds the position of Senior Scientist and in charge of Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and Dairy Training Centre (DTC), at NDRI.
Dr. Gosain started his professional career in the Dairy Cattle Nutrition Division NDRI in the year 1980 wherein he contributed extensively and developed professional skills in using various scientific instruments for analytical works. Under the Indo-Dutch project he had an advanced training in 1988 in the area of Rumen Simulation Technique from the Hannah Dairy Research Institute, Scotland and Waghenighen Agricultural University, the Netherlands.
Dr. Gosain joined Dairy Extension Division NDRI, as scientist in 1991, wherein he taught various courses to M.Sc. and B.Tech students till 1999. During this period he also acted as councellor for Indira Gandhi National Open University for four years where in he guided four students for their research project works. He guided two M.Sc. students of Dairy Extension Discipline of NDRI Deemed University as a major advisor. In 1996 Dr Gosain was conferred second prize in an All India scientific paper writing competition organized by Asian Society for Entrepreneurship Education and Development, New Delhi.
Dr. Gosain also remained attached to Dairy Technology Department of NDRI, for three years and carried out a research project as project leader on pilot level testing of dairy processing technologies. In all Dr. Gosain carried out two research projects at NDRI as project leader and remained associated in five other research projects. Presently he is leader in one project and associated in other.
Dr. Gosain co-authored a book has written three book chapters and published more than 40 publications including research papers, technical and popular articles in various international and national publications.
Since 1999 Dr. Gosain is working in the Krishi Vigyan Kendra & Dairy Training Centre of National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) wherein he has organized more 70 training programmes for dairy farmers, farm women, veterinarians, veterinary livestock development assistants and university teachers of different states of India. Having a flair for field extension work Dr. Gosain has organized as member of different teams various events like cattle shows, field days and exhibitions.
Dr. Gosain has got a special blend of both social and biological sciences and for the past one decade he is working on sustainable dairy farming systems in mixed farming situations in India. Most of his recent scientific writings heavily concentrate on rural development through sustainable scientific dairy farming.
Dr. Gosain acted as chairman in one of the sessions in the First International Conference on Environmentally Sustainable Development (ESDev-2005) held from June 26-28, at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Abbottabad, Pakistan. He was also invited as guest speaker and attended 5th Edition of the Biennial event of Culture and Science of Traditional Dairy and Agricultural Food Products of Mediterranean Countries Cheese Art -2006, held from June 26th to 2nd July, 2006 organized by the Consorzio Ricerca Filiera Lattiero-Casearia, (CoRFiLaC), a Dairy Research Center located at Ragusa, Italy
As a member, Convener and Chairman of different committees Dr. Gosain has contributed significantly in organizing various international and national seminars, conferences and workshops etc organized at the NDRI .He is also a member of the Institute Press Relation Committee and has made a lot of contribution to the Print and Electronic Media internationally and nationally by contributing various press releases and articles pertaining to the activities related to dairy production and processing of NDRI.
